A studio with mountains in its name.

Andean Bear Studios builds focused desktop apps for macOS, Linux, and Windows. Born from the Peruvian Andes, built in Winterthur — software with clear pricing, no tracking, no accounts.

The name

The Andean bear is a real animal.

The spectacled bear — Tremarctos ornatus — is the only bear native to South America, found in the cloud forests of the Peruvian Andes. Shy, solitary, methodical. It climbs higher than any other bear in the world to find what it needs.

We took the name because the studio is rooted there. Born in Lima, registered in Switzerland, building from Winterthur. The Andean textile colours running through our apps and this site are a quiet reference to where the work comes from.

What we believe

Three rules, kept simple.

Clear convictions, applied consistently — not a manifesto, just the way we work.

01

AI-Native by Default.

AI isn't an add-on — it's how we write, test, and ship from day one. We use it to move faster, then read the diff line by line before anything lands in your hands.

02

Ship, Learn, Improve.

Launch focused. Listen to real usage. Sharpen what's there before adding what isn't. Fast doesn't mean reckless; it means cutting the parts that don't matter.

03

Built for Everyday Use.

Tools that load instantly, stay out of the way, and do one thing per app. No dashboards, no onboarding flows, no "welcome" tours.

Founder · Engineer · Andean Bear Studios

Solo founder. I write the code, design the interfaces, answer the support emails, and sign the invoices. The studio is one person and an obsession with shipping less, sharper.

Born in Lima, baptized as the City of Kings by early conquistadors. Now building from Winterthur, Switzerland — finding the balance between the colour, warmth, and ornament of Peruvian design and the precision and minimalism of Swiss culture. They pull in opposite directions. The apps sit where they meet. Before the studio I spent six or seven years in product engineering — long enough to learn what software shouldn't do.

The right way

Buyonce.Ownitforever.

No subscriptions. No accounts. No tracking. No data collection. The app is yours the moment you download it — exactly how desktop software used to work, and still should.
